About Stephanie Bonilla, Esq.

As a Latina herself, Stephanie Bonilla dedicated her life to advocating for underserved populations and immigrants. Stephanie grew up in Honduras and moved to the United States at the age of 18 to pursue a college education at Bentley University. Gaining interest in international affairs and global issues led her to graduate magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts. Stephanie worked numerous jobs that deeply rooted her in the lives of immigrants and youth. Bonilla worked as a case manager for families struggling with homelessness at Old Colony YMCA-Brockton. Continuing her journey, she took on the role of a youth leader for high-risk youth who were court-involved or in the foster care system at More Than Words- Waltham.

In May 2017, Stephanie graduated from Boston University School of Law. This journey provided Bonilla with learning experiences from the International Human Rights Clinic that allowed her to explore Mexican immigration shelters and advocate for the protection and rights of immigrants. Sometime after her research work in the shelters, she marched on the next step in her career at Kids in Need of Defense (“KIND”). Stephanie worked as an Equal Justice Works Fellow at KIND in Boston in Collaboration with Cambridge Health Alliance (“CHA”), assisting unaccompanied youth who received health care through CHA. Through the collaboration, health care providers referred children who faced immigration barriers. At the same time, both organizations worked together to ensure that all clients receive care that meets the needs of the trauma they have experienced.

In August 2019, Stephanie started working at Barrales Law as an immigration lawyer, a women-led immigrant-focused private firm in Boston, MA. There, she worked as an associate attorney in the immigration department, working her way up to the Managing Attorney. Embarking on such a powerful journey of immigration engagement, Bonilla now moves to her next big project, opening SB Law. Stephanie Bonilla hopes to provide clients with a legal representation and experience that fully embraces her values of sincerity, obligation, competence, and hard work.
